Bollywood & Tollywood Alpine Tour

Explore the most magnificent and fabulous sights of the Alpine mountains following the steps of the famous Bollywood directors and see their film sets not only on the screen but also with your own eyes.

You will visit the sets where the following movies were filmed:

Day 1: Arrival in Vienna

Arrive at the Vienna Airport and check in at the hotel.

Overnight in Vienna.

Day 2: Vienna Tour

Today you will embark to explore one of the most incredible cities in the world. This is an excellent way to learn Vienna’s history and its most important sights. During the sightseeing tour, you will drive along the eminent Ring Boulevard with its splendid palaces. See the world-famous Vienna State Opera, Imperial Residence Hofburg, Parliament, Vienna City Hall, State Theatre, and Belvedere Palace.

This impressive imperial flare of the city has accompanied Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). The last stop of the tour will be the architectural landmark of Vienna – Schönbrunn Palace. After the Vienna Sightseeing Tour, we will drive via the scenic highway S6 to the fabulous Hallstatt village. You will have a unique opportunity to explore its remarkable history and culture while enjoying the view of huge picturesque mountains rising abruptly from narrow valleys.

The next stop on our trip will be St. Wolfgang town, one of the most popular lake resorts in Austria. Here you will have a quick walk along St. Wolfgang Lake and embrace the peaceful and cozy atmosphere of the town.

Afterward, transfer from St. Wolfgang to Salzburg. Overnight in Salzburg.

Day 3: Salzburg

Today you will become acquainted with the most famous sights of Salzburg. This is a cozy beautiful city, built in baroque style, on the banks of the River Salzach. The city is the world capital of classical music and the hometown of the great Mozart and Karajan. You will walk down the Mirabell gardens and see the house where Mozart was born, the Salzburg Cathedral, and one of the oldest abbeys in Europe – functioning St. Peter’s Abbey.

After the walking tour and free time in Salzburg, you will depart for Innsbruck. On the way to the capital of Tyrol, there will be a stop in Kitzbühel where some of the scenes of Tera Mera Saath Rahen (2001) were shot, and a stop in the Wattens’ Crystal Worlds, a unique museum of the world-famous crystal products of the Swarovski family. Swarovski Crystal Worlds served as a set for modern Bollywood films, such as Chal Mere Bhai (1999) and Yuvraaj (2007).

Day 4: Tyrol and Innsbruck

The beauty of alpine landscapes and outstanding cultural sights of Tyrol and Innsbruck has attracted more than 80 Indian film productions, such as Raju Chacha (1991), Anji (2000), Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa (2001), Tera Mera Saath Rahen (2001), Yuvraaj (2007) and many more. Tyrol became the ideal location for Indian filmmakers who decided to find a proper alternative to Switzerland.

During the Innsbruck sightseeing tour, you will visit not only the famous sets of Bollywood films but also discover the town’s unique atmosphere. Enjoy the guided walk by Imperial Court Palace, Golden Roof, Theatre, and Triumphal Arch, and take pleasure in a cup of coffee along with the unforgettable mountain view.

After the tour, you will have a free afternoon and evening to, for example, ride up the Nordkette mountain train and explore various shops on Maria-Theresien Street.

Day 5: Stems Abbey

Today you will say goodbye to Austria and greet Switzerland. You will head for Stams Abbey where the scenes of Raju Chacha were shot. Stems Abbey is considered the architectural and historical treasure of Tyrol as its history takes roots from the XIII century. Your next short Bollywood stop will be in Mieming. This pictorial municipality hosted a film crew for the film Asadhyudu (2005). You will drive from Mieming to Lucerne, situated idyllically on the glassy Lucerne Lake. During the brief stop, you will visit the old town and Lucerne’s landmark, Chapel Bridge, the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe.

After the picturesque drive via the 1,008 meters-high Brünningpass that encloses Lake Brienz, you will arrive in Interlaken, where many Bollywood scenes were filmed. Interlaken is the starting point of the Jungfrau mountain railway line which includes Europe’s highest railway station, well-known to lots of Indian people and Bollywood fans.

Day 6: Gstaad Region

In the morning you will depart for the Gstaad region, which is known as one of the most beautiful natural film set in the world. Many Bollywood blockbusters were shot here. Even Bollywood celebrities spend their holidays and honeymoons in this wonderful region. Today you will get acquainted with the village of Gstaad, “the operational headquarters” for many of Yash Chopra’s films.

You will stand on the same bridge on which Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan danced in the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). Afterward, you will head off to the lake named in honor of Yash Chopra and even locals call the lake Chopra’s Lake despite its official name.
Overnight in the Gstaad region.

Day 7: Gruyѐres

Today we will travel through the Saanen Valley to the medieval town Gruyѐres, located on a hill with a castle that is over 800 years old. Some scenes of the Bollywood film Khoobsurat (2014) were shot here. A visit to Gruyѐres Castle is a journey across eight centuries of architecture, history, and culture. See the Castle's permanent exhibitions that serve as a reminder of its history, in addition to various temporary exhibitions.

Afterward, the ‘delicious’ part of the trip will begin. We will visit the famous cheese factory, la Maison de Gruyѐre, where you can see how Gruyѐre cheese is made and stored. After tasting one of the best cheeses in the world, you are to try one of the best chocolates in the world. Visit the Cailler chocolate factory and discover the tastiest world of delicacies.

Transfer to Zurich. Overnight in Zurich.

Day 8: Zurich

Today you will meet the largest city in Switzerland, which is known for its high quality of living. This exciting metropolis, situated on both shores of a lake and a river, offers a unique combination of adventure, enjoyment, and culture. During the guided tour, you will see the National Museum, Limmat quayside, the Opera House, and St. Peter’s Tower with the largest clock face in Europe. Walk along the Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich’s famous shopping boulevard, and explore the fabulous location directly on Lake Zurich.
