Castles and Palaces of Bavaria

The fabulous Bavarian Forest is called so not because it contains lots of secret woods but also mysterious castles, fortresses, and palaces. Behind their thick walls, you will find small treasures that bear witness to a faraway past. The country is best known for the splendor of its baroque and rococo palaces and churches. It also contains a wealth of internationally renowned Gothic and modern architecture. Early Ecclesiastical Art -- Most art in the early medieval period was church art.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive at the airport and transfer to your hotel where you will spend your next 4 days.

Day 2: Falkenstein Fortress

Today you will have an opportunity to see the symbol of the Bavarian Forest, the Falkenstein Fortress. Every year lots of visitors come here and learn about the history of the fortress. Moreover, the fortress can kindly offer you a panoramic amazing view of the surrounding countryside. Do not miss the chance to visit Falkenstein haunting museum. The next destination for you will be Mitterfels where you will visit the ruins of the castle from the Middle Ages. Within the remaining walls of the fortress, you can still feel its 800 hundred years of history, and a visit to the local museum will only intensify it.

Day 3: Heritage Sites

Regensburg is on the UNESCO World Heritage list astonishes with its old town with nearly 1200 monuments and 6000 buildings. During a city tour, you will learn about the most prominent sites of the city. You will be impressed by how much the city has to tell you. For instance, the cathedral can be seen from afar and it is an excellent example of Gothic architecture in Bavaria. Additionally, you will visit the St. Emmeram palace in Regensburg, better known as Thurn and Taxis Palace. Explore thousands of years of Monastic traditions as well as the tales of the monks and aristocrats.
