Castles and Peaks of Salzburg

The trip offers an exciting visit to some of the Alpine castles, glaciers, and unforgettable mountain views.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive at the airport and transfer to your hotel where you will spend your next 5 days.

Day 2: Salzburg

Salzburg – a cozy beautiful city on the banks of the River Salzach, built in the baroque style, the world capital of classical music, the hometown of great Mozart and Karajan. Surrounded by the lakes and mountains of the picturesque Salzkammergut region, Salzburg is certainly one of the most outstanding cities in the world. Your city guide will introduce you to the city‘s highlights before you visit Hohensalzburg Fortress, the largest fortress in Austria.

Day 3: Werfen - Hohenwerfen

Travel to Werfen and the spectacular Hohenwerfen – Fortress that brings you directly to the Middle Ages era. This mighty castle has towered over the 155-meter-high rock pillar above the Salzachtal valley for more than 900 years. The castle along with its walls that hide its captivating history, the museum, and the castle‘s dark corners, all encourage visitors to feel its mighty spirit from within.

Day 4: Kaprun

Today we recommend a trip to Kaprun, where a bus will bring you up to the "High alpine water reservoir" Mooserboden. The dam is 107m high and 500m long – enjoy the astonishing view of the huge reservoirs at 2.000m altitude. As an alternative to the Mooserboden, you can take the cable car up to the highest point in the Salzburg region, the "Kitzsteinhorn". In the afternoon, visit Zell am See for a stroll along the promenade or take a short boat ride on the beautiful lake.

Day 5: Grossglockner

Travel to the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner. At 3,798m the Grossglockner is not only the highest mountain in Austria, but it also counts among the highest peaks in the Alps. From the Franz Josephs Höhe, you have a marvelous view of the glacier. Your journey along this famous 48-kilometer alpine road leads you into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park and to the Pasterze Glacier.
