Grand Tour of Austria
Austria is the country that can offer everything that a tourist needs - historic cities, spectacular mountain fortresses, magnificent mountains, and sparkling lakes. On this tour, you will explore some of the country’s highlights and hidden secrets.
Day 1
Arrive at your hotel in the Salzburg area and enjoy a welcome drink and evening meal.
Day 2
After a relaxing breakfast, travel to the city of Salzburg, home of Mozart and "The Sound of Music", where we recommend taking a city guide. Your guide introduces you to some of the highlights of the city before you have free time to explore the city on your own. Take a ride up to the spectacular fortress that stands high above the city.
Day 3
Today you travel from the musical city – Salzburg to the capital of Austria – Vienna. En-route visit the Wachau region. Locating between Melk and Krems, Wachau Valley has truly earned its status as the most picturesque area of Europe. Almost every curve of the Danube River opens amazing landscapes, numerous historical and cultural monuments – either catholic abbeys or castles built upon the hills by warriors-bandits. If there will be some time left we recommend a wine tasting or a boat trip during the day or a visit to the town of Dürnstein, where Richard the Lionheart was supposedly held as a hostage.
Day 4
This morning you meet your city guide for a city tour (not included in price). With your guide, you will be able to discover some of the highlights and hidden points of interest before having free time to explore Vienna on your own. Do not miss the mighty "Schönbrunn Palace" with its marvelous gardens and amazing zoo. In the evening, we recommend a traditional meal in a "Heuriger" (wine tavern) in Vienna.
Day 5
Today leave the cosmopolitan life behind and travel to the green hills and sparkling lakes of Carinthia. En route, we recommend you to visit Graz, chosen as the cultural center of Europe in 2003, and/or the "Lippizaner" stud farm of Piber. The stud farm is the birthplace of the famous "Lippizaner" horses of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
Day 6
A journey to Austria would not be complete without visiting its highest mountain, the Grossglockner. Your journey takes you over the impressive mountain road and to the lakeside town of Zell am See. Lean back and enjoy the magnificent views before enjoying some free time in Zell am See. Finally, continue to your hotel in the Kitzbühel situated in the Alps region.
Day 7
Austria and Tyrol region have been historical centers of Europe for many centuries and one can find many fortresses, castles, and ruins along the Inn valley. One of the many is the spectacular fortress – Tratzberg castle. This majestic and romantic fortress proudly stands on a massive rock ledge and offers a breath-taking view of the Inn Valley. Take time to visit this architectural masterpiece and is well worth it as the fortress is considered to be one of the most beautiful, late gothic castles of Europe.
Day 8
Transfer from your hotel to the airport. Departure.
