Styria: Wine, Castles, And Culture

Experience an exciting story of more than 700 years of Styrian history and noble family tradition. Enjoy the lovely scenic spots and many cultural treasures in Styria.

Day 1: Arrival - Graz

Arrive at your hotel in the Graz area where you will spend your next 6 days.

Day 2: Graz

Meet your guide and follow him/her into the world of the capital of Styria. In 2003, Graz was chosen as the cultural capital of Europe. Explore many of the major sights, including the Clock Tower on the Schlossberg, the Landhaus, with its amazing Renaissance-style courtyard, the Opera House, and many more. In the afternoon you will have the city to your personal admiration.

Day 3: City Tour

Today you will meet the famous Lippizaner and visit their birthplace – the Lippizaner stud farm of Piber situated just a few kilometers north of Graz. “Lippizaner” horses are trained at a well-known Spanish Riding School in Vienna. In order to learn more about centuries of tradition go for a guided tour of the stables.

Day 4: Wine Tasting

This day you will have an opportunity to enjoy a scenic tour through the “Schilcher wine region”, famous for its wine and pumpkin seed oil. Amplify your stay with wine and brandy tasting.

Day 5: Riegersburg

On this day, we recommend you visit Riegersburg, where we walk up to the castle passing seven castle gates and eleven bastions. After a guided tour of the distillery, you will have an opportunity to taste a glass or two of the best Austrian wine. If there is some remaining time our next stop will be the Zotter Chocolate Factory, which leaves no hesitation against the temptation of numerous kinds of chocolate.

Day 6: Departure

Transfer from your hotel to the airport. Departure.

Know More About Styria:

Called the ‘Green Heart’ of Austria with large forests throughout the province and inviting vineyards. Styria has many activities and excursions for visitors such as hiking, skiing, castles, thermal spas, and traditional local festivities.

Styria speaks Austro-Bavarian along with the rest of Austria, however, you will find that most people also speak German, including just about all residents of Graz. Most people also have a functional command of English, and in the southern parts Slovene is also spoken by many, and this is not limited to the strong Slovene minority residing there.

Styria is famous for its pumpkin seed oil. The Steirisches Kurbiskernol (Styrian pumpkin seed oil) and the Stajersko prekmursko bučno olje (Styrian prekmurjen pumpkin oil) are European Union Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) products.
