Vienna and Countryside
Vienna is a city full of contrasts, modern and traditional! Cosmopolitan city but in the middle of the countryside. Enjoy its diversity!
Day 1: Arrival in Vienna
Arrive in Vienna where your local assistant will meet you and organize the transfer to your hotel. After lunch enjoys a panorama city tour with the most significant sights of Vienna. By driving along the Ringstrasse, with the State Opera House, Parliament, City Hall, Burgtheater, and the Hofburg you will get an idea of imperial Vienna! On the way back to your hotel, a short stop at the Belvedere Palace will enable you to enjoy wonderful views of the city.
A visit to Vienna would not be complete without a typical dinner in one of the charming wine villages around the metropolis. Enjoy dinner at a wine tavern called ‘Heuriger’ and indulge in the famous Viennese atmosphere with a glass of home-grown wine while listening to enticing Viennese tunes.
Day 2: Historical Sites - Wine Tour
After breakfast, we will take you on a journey through one of the oldest historical parts of Austria, well known for its famous wines. The highlight of this tour is the visit to the Baroque Abbey of Melk, with its imperial rooms, the marble hall, and the famous library. Lunch at the restaurant of the monastery will give you a short rest period before we continue, by boat, to Dürnstein – a romantic village with the ruin of Dürnstein where King Richard Lionheart was kept as a prisoner.
Day 3: Vienna Sightseeing
Back in Vienna, a walking tour through the historical center will bring you even closer to the heart of the music capital. We will take you inside the Viennese landmark - St. Stephen’s Cathedral. At our next stop - the House of Music - you will be welcomed by a solo violinist and a Minuetto teacher who will show you how to dance like in past times. Be surprised by this interactive place where you can conduct the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra, experience the world-famous New Year’s Concert, or compose your own waltz!
After this very active morning, you can discover the city on your own before we depart for the Palace of Schönbrunn. After an inside visit to the summer residence of the former Imperial Habsburg family, you can enjoy dinner in the imperial atmosphere, followed by a memorable concert with the most beautiful works of Mozart and Strauss at the Orangery Schönbrunn.
Day 4: Vienna Sightseeing
This day is reserved for an excursion to the most beautiful sights of Vienna’s surroundings. Driving through the Vienna Woods, a visit to the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz is followed by the Memorial Chapel of Mayerling. Via the romantic Helenental, we will reach the old Roman City of Baden, situated in a popular spa area.
The rest of the day is at your own disposal.
Day 5: Departure
Say farewell to Austria before being transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
